Tim Comrie Comics and Art

Updates on the comics and art of Toronto Artist tim comrie
NEW COMIC: WITHOUT JUDGEMENT
I debuted a new comic at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival that is now available in my online store and at the Beguiling comics store in Toronto. It’s called “Without Judgement” and it’s a collection of short strips. Leisure #2 is also for sale at the Beguling on a south-facing rack on the first floor in front of Cash.
WITHOUT JUDGEMENT, LEISURE 1, and LEISURE 2 can all be purchased from my online store: Leisure Comics Store
I’m currently working on LEISURE 3-it’s going slowly but the art is more refined than previous issues so I’m excited to finish and release it as soon as I can.

I can’t overstate what a wonderful thing the Toronto Comic Arts Festival is to me; I just love it. It was a great and unexpected thing to be able to share a table with Jason this year and I had an amazing, inspiring weekend. Thanks to anyone who bought or traded things with us, and all of our friends, family and significant others who visited us. Thanks to the organizers/volunteers if any of them stumble upon this post. This event is a stunning achievement and it gets better every year.
P.S. Thanks Jason, Amy, and Mrs. Joan Comrie especially.

A page from my first comic (Leisure #1) is being reprinted in Rivet magazine. Rivet can be purchased at the OCAD U Student Gallery. There’s a launch there tonight (52 McCaul, Toronto, ON):

Come out for the launch of Rivet 3 and the Function 4 speaker series and experience two great programs from the Student Press, at once!

Rivet 3:

A biannual experimental publication that publishes high quality work from OCAD U students, alumni and faculty.

Function 4:

Established with the generous support of OCAD Student Press and Student Union, Function brings respected emerging and established artists/designers from a broad spectrum of media to The Student Gallery to conduct a public lecture and engage with students, faculty, and the larger Toronto communities. The evening highlights the shared common passion for ideas, inspiration and innovation that coexist within and around OCAD U.

The evening of discourse will open with Epoch Composed mixing experimental groove and starting at 8pm Taimaz Moslemian, Greg McRoberts, Ibrahim Abusitta, Shannon Gerard and Piotr Adas and Paul Kozak on behalf of FASADA will each take the stage for 10 minutes.

KARMAGEDDON

One of my first posts on tumblr was about an illustration I did for a Canadian documentary called Karmageddon. I was assigned to paint my own interpretation of the Kali deity for the filmmakers to show when she is discussed in the film’s narration.

I recently got a copy of the finished film from its co-creator and I loved it. I’m not used to smart, earnest movies being so entertaining; I found it exciting, moving, and immensely funny. I’m so happy to have made a minor contribution to this great film.

For more information on Karmageddon and its co-directors and -producers (Jeff Brown and Paul Hemrend of Open Heart Gang Productions) or to view this brilliant, independent, Canadian film in its entirety, go here

Question to Tumblr artists

Does anyone know of any good opportunites to be a comic artist in residency?

P.S. You can answer me here or you can email me at timcomrie@gmail.com. Thanks
